About Us

What We Believe at Brighter Days

Helping young people feel safe enough to be themselves.

At Brighter Days, we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported. We understand that life can be challenging, but what matters most is what comes next. We don’t give up when things get tough—we work through challenges together to help you learn, grow, and move forward. More than just a place to live, Brighter Days is a home where people listen, care, and support you towards a positive future.

Our Philosophy

At Brighter Days, our approach is built on trust, honesty, and the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to grow and move forward.

It’s your next move that counts

We believe that everyone makes mistakes. What matters most is what happens next. We support young people to reflect, learn, and make positive choices moving forward.

Non-punitive care

Our approach is not about punishment. Instead, we focus on understanding behaviour, building relationships, and helping young people develop the skills and confidence to make better decisions.

No empty promises

Trust is at the heart of everything we do. We do not make promises we cannot keep. If something cannot happen as planned, we will always explain why and work with young people to find an alternative way forward.

Learning from mistakes

Mistakes are part of learning. We support young people to understand their experiences, build resilience, and develop the confidence to keep moving forward.

Honesty and trust

We believe strong relationships are built through openness, consistency, and respect. Our team works hard to create an environment where young people feel safe, listened to, and supported.

Building a positive future

At Brighter Days, our goal is simple, to help every young person believe in themselves and take the next positive step towards a brighter future.

Family Time

Creating a calm, welcoming environment where young people feel safe.

At Brighter Days, we understand how important it can be for young people to stay connected with the people who matter to them. Spending time with family, carers, and other important people in your life can help you feel supported and maintain those relationships.

We will support you to spend time with your family and the people who are important to you, as long as it is safe and part of your care plan. This might include visits, phone calls, video calls, or spending time together in the community.

Our staff will help you plan and prepare for family time so that it feels comfortable and positive for you. If you would like support before or after seeing your family, someone will always be there to talk things through with you.

Sometimes family arrangements are decided by your social worker or the courts, and we will work closely with them to make sure these plans are followed and that you are supported throughout.

At Brighter Days, we want you to feel connected to the people who care about you, and we will always do our best to help make family time safe, meaningful, and positive.

Activities at Brighter Days

Helping young people take positive steps toward their future.

At Brighter Days, we believe that having fun, trying new things, and spending time doing activities you enjoy is an important part of everyday life.

We support young people to take part in a range of activities at home and out in the community. This might include things like going to the cinema, bowling, swimming, going for meals, shopping, trips to the park, or days out to places of interest.

At home, we also enjoy activities such as movie nights, gaming, cooking together, arts and crafts, board games, sports, relaxing in the garden, and even learning to play a musical instrument if that’s something you’re interested in.

We always encourage young people to share their ideas about what they would like to do. Whether it’s learning a new hobby, joining a club, trying a new sport, learning a new instrument, or visiting somewhere new, we will do our best to support you to take part.

Activities are also a great way to build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun with others, and we will always work with you to find things that you enjoy and want to do.
